Record where and when you see activity. A recurring problem needs a review of the affected areas, previous work and property conditions—not just a count of visible insects.
Start with a simple sightings record
For your next enquiry, write down the rooms involved, the approximate dates and whether you are seeing insects in the same location or somewhere new. “Three sightings near the kitchen sink this week” gives a clearer starting point than “the flat has pests”. A clear photograph can also help the team discuss identification before a visit.
Include the date of the last treatment, the areas covered and any instructions you received. If you do not know which method was used, say so rather than guessing. Keep the earlier quotation or service record available.
Look at the conditions around the kitchen
Accessible food, moisture and hiding spaces are worth checking. The EPA’s pest-prevention guidance recommends sealed food storage, regular waste removal, fixing leaks and reducing clutter. These steps support prevention; they do not establish the cause of every infestation.
Make a note of leaking pipework, packed storage cupboards or places the technician could not reach on the last visit. Discuss access before moving heavy appliances. An inaccessible space should be listed as a limitation, rather than silently assumed to have been treated.
Separate your apartment from shared building areas
If sightings are close to a service opening or shared corridor, tell both the pest-control team and the person responsible for the building. This is an observation, not proof that a neighbour caused the problem. Ask who can arrange access if an assessment of a common area is needed.
Treatment within one apartment does not automatically include a refuse room, adjoining unit or building-wide work. Confirm which party is responsible for each area and whether anything needs a separate appointment.
Ask what a repeat treatment would cover
Describe current activity and ask the team to review it against the previous scope. A return visit may involve repeat treatment where appropriate; it should not be confused with a routine visit simply to check for insects. Eligibility and any charge depend on the agreed terms.
Before booking, confirm the rooms covered, preparation, aftercare and warranty conditions. Do not add extra pesticides around treated areas without discussing the existing treatment and following the product instructions.
